The world governing body for football, FIFA has inked one more partnership deal for the 2018 World Cup Finals in Russia. British luxury yacht manufacturer Sunseeker is the latest addition to the list of FIFA’s official partners for the quadrennial tournament, the biggest on the international football calendar.
The deal is an extension of Fifa’s commercial agreement with Sunseeker’s Chinese parent company, Dalian Wanda, which has signed a tier one partnership with FIFA for the 15 years.
The British luxury yacht manufacturer as part of the deal gets branding rights for the duration of the tournament. It will also get various unique experience opportunities for its premium clients.
Last year, Sunseeker’s parent company Wanda had become the first Chinese firm ever to ink a FIFA partnership deal. Wanda holds the access rights to all major FIFA competitions for the next 15 years. The deal also includes the 2030 World Cup finals.
Phil Popham, chief executive of Sunseeker International, said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with the Fifa World Cup in Russia. The Wanda partnership has provided Sunseeker with access to the largest sporting event on the planet which is just incredible.
“This is not only the most prestigious marketing initiative for Sunseeker but for the marine industry as a whole and it will allow us to create some fantastic experiences for our clients as well as giving unprecedented exposure to the Sunseeker brand.”
FIFA last month had also signed Chinese dairy products manufacturer the Mengniu Group as the official sponsor of the 21st edition of the most elite football tournament, scheduled from June 14 to July 15 in Russia.
