Here is the Live commentary between Supernovas vs Trailblazers

Trailblazers wins by 16 runs; wins maiden IPL trophy

Smriti Mandhana and Co are winners of the Women’s T20 Challenge for the first time as the defend 118 in a low-scoring final on a tricky pitch.

That was an eventful over, and an important one for Bangladesh captain Salma Khatun even if the game has become a foregone conclusion.

SPN-95/7 after 19 overs; need more 24 from 6 balls

Khatun claims her 4th wicket; SPN go 7 down

Vastrakar’s gone for a golden duck now, getting a thick top edge while looking to smash Khatun out of the park, resulting in a dolly for Ecclestone at short midwicket!

Patill run out for 8!

Anuja Patil attempts an expansive stroke towards deep mid-wicket but gets just the one run for it. Harmanpreet comes down and strikes similarly off he next ball but this time, Patil is run out while coming for the second.

SPN-91/4 after 18 overs; need more 28 from 12 balls

Supernovas skipper Harmanpreet continues to limp but she is running the singles. However, that may not be enough as the requires rate in close to 12 now

SPN-85/4 after 17 overs; need more 34 from 18 balls

A boundary off the last ball from Patil eases the pressure and makes it 6 runs off the over. However, the asking rate is well over 9 now and in more bad news for Supernovas, Harmanpreet has the physio examine her injury.

SPN-81/4 after 16 overs; need more 38 from 24 balls

Salma Khatun strikes and she picks the veteran Siriwardene and Trailblazers clearly on top. Harmapreet is still out there, but she is struggling, big time. Can she take the Supernovas over the rope?

SPN-75/4 after 15 overs; need more 44 from 30 balls

SPN go 4 down

Khatun breaks the partnership as Siriwardene gets a thick top edge while looking for a sweep, resulting in the simplest of chances for Goswami at fine leg

Seven singles runs off the Gayakwad over, with a no ball after the ball slips out of her hand and a free hit, that Harmanpreet is unable to connect. Need 49 to win from 36 balls with Harmanpreet on 19 off 26.

SPN-70/3 after 14 overs; need more 49 from 36 balls

Bangladeshi spinner Salma Khatun’s brought into the attack for the first time in the second half of the Supernovas innings. Siriwardene and Harman continue to rotate the strike between themselves through singles, with five of them coming in this over.

SPN-63/3 after 13 overs; need more 56 from 42 balls

Siriwardene picks a boundary but Ecclestone does an excellent job, giving just six runs from her third over. Spin, spin and spin. That’s the route Smriti Mandhana has taken.

SPN-58/3 after 12 overs; need more 61 from 48 balls

Fifty comes up for Supernovas!

The fifty comes up for Supernovas in the 11th over as Deepti Sharma gives away just 4 runs

SPN-52/3 after 11 overs; need more 67 from 64 balls

We reach the halfway mark!

Harleen Deol comes in to bowl and it’s a decent over, with 9 runs off it. At the halfway mark, Supernovas look to be on the back foot but if there is one player who can turn any equation on its head with a big batting performance, it is captain Harmanpreet Kaur.

SPN-48/3 after 10 overs; need more 71 from 60 balls

SPN-39/3 after 9 overs; need more 80 from 66 balls

Rodrigues falls cheaply; SPN in trouble after losing 3 quick wickets

It’s the dangerous Rodrigues who departs this time after steering the ball towards cover, with the Thai cricketer timing her leap correctly to complete a fine catch. Timeout signalled after this wicket. FOW-37/3

Jemimah breaks away from the shackles with a boundary to the deep mid-wicket but the asking rate has climbed up to 7.01. Trailblazers winning key moments with spin, the same how Supernovas chocked them.

SPN-36/2 after 8 overs; need more 83 from 72 balls

Deepti Sharma strikes and she removes Taniya Bhatia. Trailblazers are making this a very difficult run chase as skipper Harmanpreet Kaur joins Jemimah Rodrigues.

SPN-30/2 after 7 overs; need more 89 from 78 balls

Bhatia falls for 7; SPN  go 2 down

Deepti delivers the breakthrough for the Trailblazers in her very first over of the evening as Bhatia chips the ball straight to Gayakwad at midwicket! FOW-30/2

End of Powerplay!

End of Powerplay and Supernovas have done well to not lose a wicket but they haven’s scored either. Trailblazers believe they are in this match, especially with the track offering support for the spinners.

SPN- 28/1 after 6 overs; need more 91 from 84 balls

A wonderful square cut from Bhatia off the first balls gets a much-needed boundary but a good over from Goswami after that, with just 2 more singles.

SPN-24/1 after 5 overs; need more 95 from 90 balls

Six runs off the Sophie Ecclestone over as Supernovas continue to be stifled in the Powerplay.

SPN-18/1 after 4 overs; need more 101 from 16 overs

Tania Bhatia is off the mark and she joins Jemimah Rodrigues. Supernovas need a partnership but Trailblazers will be aware that wickets are the only way to halt the opposition from pocketing third straight title.

SPN-12/1 after 3 overs

Just the start Trailblazers wanted while defending a low total and Sophie Ecclestone strikes early to remove Chamari Athapaththu. Excellent review from Smriti Mandhana and a couple more, Supernovas will be under serious pressure.

SPN-10/1 after 2 overs

Trailblazers find early breakthrough; Supernovas lose Athapaththu cheaply

Big appeal for lbw by Ecclestone against Athapaththu’s initially turned down by the umpire. Mandhana goes upstairs after a bit of consultation, and gets three reds on Hawk-Eye to reverse the on-field decision. Excellent use of technology!

Jhulan Goswami comes into bowl and gets the ball to rise sharply in her first over. Finishes the over with a series of superb dot balls that beat the bat of Athapaththu and the SL opener can only smile. Good battle.

SPN-3/0 after 1 over

TRL lose 4 wickets in last over

Four wickets in the six balls of the last over as Supernovas take complete control of the match in the final overs. It was a procession after Mandhana departed for 68, scoring half of her team’s runs.

End of Trailblazers’ innings: TRL-118/8 after 20 overs

Harleen Deol, who played a blinder in the last match, batting with Sophie Ecclestone. Both new batters but both with the ability to provide the late flourish Trailblazers so badly need. But it is Anuja Patil who finishes her spell with another frugal over, giving away only 4 runs.

TRL-117/4 after 19 overs

Excellent captaincy from Harmanpreet Kaur as Radha Yadav takes two wickets and Trailblazers have fallen apart after the fall of Smriti Mandhana.

TRL-113/4 after 18 overs

Radha Yadav takes 2 wickets in one over

Another tossed up delivery. The ball was spinning away from Richa, who went down the ground but handed a simple catch to Chamari down the ground. Two dismissals in a similar fashion

Deepti Sharma falls cheaply; TRL go 3 down

Deepti Sharma finally breaks the boundaries drought with a powerful strike over square leg. But she is dismissed off the next ball as she comes down the track but manages to find the fielder at long on. Radha Yadav gets the wicket, Athapaththu with the catch

Shashikala into the 17th over of the innings. Mandhana has done her bit, set a solid foundation for the Trailblazers. Can the rest of the line up capitalise now? Yet another economical over, five runs off it.

TRL-108/2 after 17 overs

An excellent over from Poonam Yadav to finish up her spell, giving away only 2 runs. With 4 overs to go, this is the time for Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh to take chances now. Anything over 130 should be a good score here.

TRL-103/2 after 16 overs
100 comes up for Trailblazers!
Shashikala Siriwardene strikes and she gets the prized scalp of Smriti Mandhana. Bhatia behind the stumps does an excellent job as she whips the bails before Smriti could ground her feet. Big moment in the match.
TRL-101/2 after 15 overs

Big wicket for Supernovas!

Smriti Mandhana departs! Big wicket this. Shashikala outfoxes Mandhana on this occasion and Bhatia dislodges the stumps behind the wicket.

Anuja Patil once again with a good over, making the first on a blip. Just four runs of this as well, showing that this is indeed not as easy a pitch to bat on.

TRL-93/1 after 14 overs

Strategic Timeout taken

Trailblazers going at 6.85 runs per over and Richa Ghosh needs to keep rotating the strike and allow Smriti Mandhana face as many deliveries as possible. The skipper is batting beautifully in the middle with an unbeaten 43-ball 62.

TRL-89/1 after 13 overs

Fifty for Mandhana!

Excellent half-century from Smriti Mandhana and what a captain’s knock she has played. Gets to the landmark with a boundary and then skips down the track to smoke Poonam for a maximum to make it a 14-run over.

TRL-85/1 after 12 overs

Trailblazers lose Dottin for 20

Poonam draws first blood for Supernovas. Tossed up, Dottin one again whacks it, but no timing on that slog sweep. The ball pops out of Radha’s hands, but she does well to hold on to it.

Shashikala Siriwardene comes into the attack and bowls another tidy over for Supernovas with just 5 off it. Something’s gonna give soon… time for Dottin to start taking on the attack.

TRL-71/- after 11 overs

We reach the halfway mark!

TRL-66/0 after 10 overs

Another good over from Supernovas as Anuja Patil is brought back after the costly first outing early on. She gives away only 3 this time.

TRL-62/0 after 9 overs

Poonam Yadav comes into the attack, after barely getting a couple of overs in the last match, and India’s spin spearhead is effective at controlling the run rate at once, with her slow, loopy deliveries. Only 3 runs off her first over.

TRL-59/0 after 8 overs

Fifty comes up for TRL; Fifty run stand for Mandhana-Dottin

Pooja Vastrakar comes into the attack in the seventh over. Starts off with a dot. Oversteps off the second and Mandhana makes the most of the free hit, with a massive six over long off. Three runs off the final three deliveries. Costly over- 11 runs off it. And we head into the strategic time out!

TRL-56/0 after 7 overs

End of Powerplay!

A tidy over from Radha Yadav to wrap up the Powerplay with just 4 runs off it. She appeals for LBW against Dottin but the umpire and keeper are both not keen on the shout.

TRL-45/0 after 6 overs

Mandhana is outscoring Dottin early on. The big-hitting opener is not getting her timing right so far but Trailblazers are getting the runs courtesy some sublime strokes from their captain. The drive through square races to the boundary on the penultimate ball is as exquisite as it can get.

TRL-41/0 after 5 overs

Radha Yadav replaces Anuja Patil after the expensive first over. JemimahRodrigues and Ayabonga Khaka serve what looked like certain boundaries with great fielding at the ropes, making it just six off the over.

TRL-33/0 after 4 overs

Khaka returns for her second over. Mandhana continues to make use of her good touch and creams one through the covers for a boundary. The left-hander collects a double off the last. Seven runs off the over.

TRL-27/0 after 3 overs

Costly over from Supernovas!

Anuja Patil, right-arm off break, comes into the attack and gets smacked for two fours and a maximum from the blade of Mandhana, who’s timing the ball beautifully. Costly over this, 14 runs off it.

TRL-20/0 after 2 overs

A good over from Khaka but Dottin manages to sneak in a cracking boundary on the penultimate ball. Smart response from the South African, who bowls a slower ball for a dot

TRL-6/0 after 1 over

Aaand we are underway!

Here we go! Deandra Dottin and Smriti Mandhana to open for Trailblazers, Ayabonga Khaka with the new ball.

Toss results

Supernovas wins toss and elects to field first

Harmanpreet: We will bowl first. We wanted to chase in the last two games and today we got that opportunity. We felt it’s not that easy to bat in the first innings and that’s the reason behind the decision.. No pressure. I told my players to just go and enjoy as we are not sure when we are gonna play next. We just want to keep playing. One change for us. Priya Punia is out and Pooja Vastrakar is in.

Smrit: I would have batted first today and I’m happy losing the toss, it’s important that we got what we want. Lot of takeaways from the other game, good to have runs on the board and see how the bowlers do in the chase. One change for us. Nuzhat Parween comes in place of Dayalan Hemalatha.

Harmanpreet Kaur heaps praises on her bowlers!

Supernovas captain Harmanpreet Kaur lavished praise on her bowlers for delivering under pressure after the two-time champions notched up a two-run win over Trailblazers in the Women’s T20 Challenge.

Defending 146, Supernovas restricted Trailblazers to 144 for five to enter their third successive final of the competition.

“It was very close. Hats off to our bowlers, they soaked in the pressure and bowled to their fields,” Harmanpreet said at the post-match presentation on Saturday.

“Every game you play, you want to win. With the start we got, we were looking at least 160 but we knew that the ball was turning and our spinners will come into play.

We are exactly one hour away from toss.

Road to Finals!

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Supernovas started off their campaign on a poor note, suffering a five-wicket defeat against Velocity. Smriti Mandhana’s Trailblazers, on the contrary, had a dream start as they bundled out Velocity for 47 and completed the chase in just 7.5 overs.

Thus, while history is on their side, defending champions Supernovas are expected to face a stiff challenge from Trailblazers.

For Supernovas, Chamari Athapaththu has been in sublime form. The Sri Lankan is the leading run-getter in the tournament with 111 runs from two matches. Her 48-ball 67 against Trailblazers denoted her ability to single-handedly take the game away from the opposition.

Trailblazers, on the other hand, boast of Sophie Ecclestone. With four wickets to her name, Ecclestone leads the wicket-takers chart in the ongoing tournament. The world’s No 1 T20 bowler finished with a match-winning spell of 4/9 in their clash against Velocity.

Pitch Report

Going by the past record in the competition, the wickets have been a lot slower and thus made it difficult for the batters to play the big strokes. For the team batting first, anything over 140 runs on the board will be a decent total.

The dew factor is expected to play a major role in giving the team a slight advantage while chasing the runs. However, in a big pressure final, runs on the board is the way to go forward.

Probable XIs

Supernovas Predicted XI: Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Jemimah Rodrigues, Chamari Atapattu, Anuja Patil, Radha Yadav, Taniya Bhatia, Shashikala Sriwardene, Poonam Yadav, Shakera Selman, Priya Punia, Ayabonga Khaka.

Trailblazers Predicted XI: Smriti Mandhana (c), Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, Hemlatha, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Harleen Deol, Jhulan Goswami, Salma Khatun, Sophie Ecclestone, Natthakan Chantam, Deandra Dottin
