T20 World Cup: Yuzvendra Chahal reveals that he is working on his batting says, ‘Bowlers have to get runs in certain situations’- Team India’s leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who recently returned from India tour of Sri Lanka, has revealed that he has started working on his batting skills. He admitted at in certain situations bowlers are also expected to make runs.
T20 World Cup: “I am working on my batting. I have been batting in the nets.\ Be it fast bowlers or spinners, we have all been batting in the nets, because we have to score runs and get runs for the team in certain situations. I am preparing myself for such situations. Apart from bowling, I take out time for batting in the nets every day,” Chahal told Times of India.
T20 World Cup: Yuzvendra Chahal, who made his India debut in 2016, has picked 97 ODI wickets and 63 T20I wickets. But in 10 ODI innings with the bat, he has managed to score just 53 runs and five runs in four T20I innings. It is quite normal for a bowler to have more wickets taken than runs scored.
T20 World Cup: In the recently concluded Sri Lanka series, India had to field five batsmen and six bowlers as nine Indian players were in quarantine after Krunal Pandya was tested positive during the series. In the third T20I India vice-captain Bhuvaneshwar Kumar had to bat at number six for the team as there was no batsman available. In that game, Yuzvendra Chahal’s spin bowling partner Kuldeep Yadav was the highest scorer for Team India. He scored 23 runs in 28 balls to help India reach 81 in 20 overs. (India tour of Sri Lanka)
