Countdown to India’s iconic sporting event – the IAAF Gold Label Tata Mumbai Marathon begins. Over 46,000 including some of the world’s best, are gearing up for Sunday, 20th January 2019. The leading marathon race of the country has signed 3 new sponsors. Procam the race organizers announced that they have singed Oakley as Performance Eyewear Partner, GoDaddy is the Domains and Online Presence Partner, and Nature Valley is the Recharge Partner.

GODADDY, Domains and Online Presence Partner: World’s largest cloud platform dedicated to small and independent ventures is the Official Domains and Online Presence Partner for the Tata Mumbai Marathon. This partnership will enable GoDaddy to reach out to aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners, participating in the events, and help them understand the benefits of having an online presence and the ease of creating a website.

TATA HARRIER: Tata Motors, the event’s Driven by Partner and one of the leading automotive manufactures in India, has announced the Tata Harrier as the official lead car for the 2019 edition.

What truly sets the Tata Mumbai Marathon apart is that, the event is not just a platform for sporting excellence, it has become India’s largest showcase of people pushing boundaries, inspiring the human spirit. The event has gone beyond running to bring people together – over and above politics, religion, race, colour, and gender. This includes not only runners but also spectators, volunteers, state and civic authorities, sponsors, fundraisers and all who experience and touch the event in different ways. The Tata Mumbai Marathon inspires people to ‘Be Better’.

REGISTRATIONS: For the 2019 edition, Tata Mumbai Marathon had launched the initiative ‘Mumkin Hai – Run for the Full’ with Mumbai Striders. The aim was to galvanize, encourage and assist amateur half marathoners to push their limits towards becoming a full marathoner. The success of this initiative is reflective in the registrations this year and for the first time, we have 8414 participants for the Full Marathon, a 22% increase from 2018.

PRESENCE OF CHAMPIONS: 2019 edition of the event will witness Ethiopia’s Abera Kuma lead the men’s field, while the women’s field will be headlined by the defending women’s champion Amane Gobena. Along with the Six-Time World Boxing Champion, Mary Kom, as the event ambassador, the event will be graced by South African Comrades Marathon champion, Bruce Fordyce. Popularly known as the ‘Comrades King’, Bruce has been the winner of South Africa’s grueling ultra-marathon for an unprecedented eight consecutive years, and nine times overall.

Pradipta Bagchi, Group Chief Communications Officer, Tata Sons, said, “The Tata Mumbai Marathon is the city’s way of celebrating achievement, perseverance and commitment. The increasing participation from not just Mumbaikars in the Tata Mumbai Marathon, but from runners across the country and globe is testament to the success of this IAAF Gold event in bringing together over 46,000 runners on one common platform every year in this city.”

He further added, “Tata Mumbai Marathon inspires everybody to #BeBetter and is a great opportunity to engage with the community, connect with youngsters and create awareness about the importance of good health.” 

Tata Mumbai Marathon will also be fully waste managed event, with a focus on managing waste through the 3R PRINCIPAL – REDUCE, REUSE & RECYCLE. For the first time ever, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has partnered with the event to work closely in the execution and last mile disposal of all the waste generated on-course, the holding area and the event expo.

The entire route will be cleared off all the waste generated within five hours of all Race category course closure 

The waste generated in the above areas will be segregated at each of location as Dry and Wet Waste. The waste generated includes – organic waste, Tetra packs, PET Bottles, packaging material & cool sponges. This dry / wet, first level segregated waste will be taken to the waste segregation stations at the MCGM Ward Office – where total segregation and last mile recycling would be actioned.
