The WFI-Tata Motors Partnership will revolutionise the sport of wrestling in India, the WFI President has stated. Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles has signed a three-year partnership with the WFI as the Principal Sponsors to encourage and promote the sport of wrestling and leverage the strong connection with the brands of its commercial vehicle range.
The Indian Wrestling team as part of the deal will support the Tata Motors “Yodha” logo on the front of their official jersey. As a part of the historic mega partnership, Tata Motors will support top performing 50 wrestlers (both men and women), across all categories, on both domestic and international circuit.
The deal was announced in Mumbai on Thursday with the launch of official national wrestling team jersey.
The WFI President, Mr Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has termed the Tata Motors-WFY association as a “historic tie-up” and one of the biggest sponsorship deals in the historic Indian sports. “It is a matter of great pride for wrestling fraternity. For the first time in the history of the Olympic Games in India, this kind of historical merger is happening. This kind of widespread merger has not happened before in the history of Indian sports,” said Mr Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
“Being the President of the Indian Wrestling Federation, I am extremely happy about the fact that a trusted partner like Tata Motors has joined us in our pursuance to take wrestling to new heights in the country and around the world.
“I am sure that with this partnership, we will succeed in bringing revolution in this game. This is a partnership between two warriors who are known for their superiority and strength in their respective fields. Tata Motors is the leader in commercial vehicles. Wrestling too has achieved numerous heights and laurels for Indian sports.
“This is the same sport that gave India its first individual Olympic medal. In 1952, Kasaba Dadasaheb Jadhav won the bronze medal in the Helsinki Olympics. India has so far won 28 Olympic medals, five have come from wrestling. Our wrestlers have also contributed 9 of the total 56 medals India has won at the Asian Games till date,” added Mr Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who also lauded the Government’s contribution to the sport.
The WFI president also congratulated federation’s exclusive marketing partners Sporty Solutionz. “I want to appreciate the efforts of each member of our young and inspired marketing team. They have worked hard to give this partnership a desired shape,” he concluded. The WFI-Tata Motors deal was weaved in by the sports business company Sporty Solutionz.
The Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle and WFI Partnership will come into effect from the 2018 Asian Games and will continue till 2021.
