Tencent to shutdown COD: Tencent set to shut down ‘Call of Duty online’ in China- What comes a piece of bad news for PC gamers in China, Tencent had decided to shut down its ‘Call of Duty Online’ by the end of August. Call of Duty Online is free to play PC game exclusively for China where it is a combined game for Call of Duty franchise into one game. The F2P PC game for China launched in 2015 and was fairly successful.
The free service will no longer be available to users but the latter have a choice to download and switch to the mobile version of the game.
“Tencent will be shutting down “Call of Duty Online” in China at the end of August. The game was a free to play PC game exclusively for China, which combined the best of the CoD franchise into one game. Tencent will now push users to download CoD Mobile instead,” it said in a tweet post.

As the agency contract is about to expire, “Call of Duty Online” will officially stop operating at 12:00 noon on August 31, 2021. The specific arrangements for the suspension are as follow:
On May 31, 2021, the game recharge will be closed.
On June 1, 2021, game registration will be closed.
On August 31, 2021, the game was officially suspended and the game server was shut down.
Before the game server is shut down, the players can continue to play the game, participate in activities that are still in progress, and use the remaining tokens and props; after the game server is shut down, all account data and character information in the game will be cleared .
Tencent also announced a compensation event which is “Call of Duty Mobile Games”. Please download the game and create characters in advance, so that you can participate in the event and receive rewards! Once you participate in compensation activities, it will be an approval from your side where you approved the compensation or replacement plans. If player does not participate in the compensation activities it will be deemed to automatically give up the right to replacement.
