The Hundred: Bad news for Trent Rockets, Head coach Andy Flower tests positive for COVID-19 –  Former Zimbabwe cricketer and coach of Trent Rocket in The Hundred, Andy Flower has been Tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss the match against Northern Superchargers on Monday. As per the reports by ESPN Cricinfo, two other members of the Trent Rockets’ support staff has been tested positive for Covid-19.

English cricketer Paul Franks will replace Flower as the Trent Rockets’ head coach. Steven Mullaney and another support staff member were also tested positive ahead of the match.

Rockets player Steven Mullaney and another, also unnamed, support staff member have been withdrawn from the fixture against Northern Superchargers after being identified as close contacts.

Following the test result, Flower and his colleagues will be kept in isolation for 10 days. Rockets are playing two games in the next 10 days and Flower is all set to miss these two games. Trent Rockets will take on London Spirit at Lord’s on July 29 and host Birmingham Phoenix at Edgbaston on August 1.

Earlier, Stephen Fleming who was the original choice of coach for Trent Rocket withdrew due to the ongoing Covid-related travel restrictions. He was replaced by Flower ahead of the league.

Joe Root is a member of the Rockets squad and Monday’s announcement came just over a week before he is due to captain England in the first Test against India at Nottingham’s Trent Bridge starting on August 4.
