The fourth and final Test of the Australia-India series, dedicated to the brave ladies experiencing breast cancer, will have more activities that organised ever before to mark the iconic Pink Test in the past. Cricket Australia has confirmed the new Pink Village, a free entertainment precinct in Centennial Parklands open to cricket fans and the general public, being developed for the match.
Offering food, music and entertainment for fans, as well as comfortable seating to enjoy the cricket action on the big screens, the Pink Village will run from 9:30am to 7:00pm local time from Thursday, January 3 to 5 January, 2019. The village will coincide with the Pink Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Cricket Australia has stated in a write up.
The Domain Pink Test has become the centrepiece of the partnership between Cricket Australia and the McGrath Foundation, with 10-year celebrations last year helping raise more than $1 million.
Now entering into its eleventh year, the Domain Pink Test has become the largest sporting fundraising initiative in Australia, with Cricket Australia and the cricket community, both on and off the field, turning pink as a symbolic show of support for those experiencing breast cancer.
The annual Pink Test raises funds to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia and support thousands of people experiencing breast cancer every year.
The Pink Village will be situated in Centennial Parklands outside Gate E of the SCG, providing event goers with an array of food and beverage offerings from some of Sydney’s most popular eateries, including Nel., Bodega, Agape Organic, Chatkazz and Chur Burger.
There will also be entertainment on offer from some of Sydney’s most promising DJs and music acts. “Launching the Pink Village in Sydney is our commitment to innovating our fan offering and providing delicious food and range of entertainment options in comfortable surrounds, all on the door step of the SC,” says Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager of Fan Experience, Anthony Everard.
“The Sydney Test has become iconic lining up with the New Year timing, but more importantly it’s the sea of pink that stands out and something we want to continue to build on to support our charity partner, the McGrath Foundation.”
