A total of 878 players will feature in the TNPL-4 player draft which is scheduled to be held here on Thursday. The order of picks for the draft will begin from the highest bidding franchise Tuti Patriot and conclude with Idream Karaikudi Kalai, the lowest bidder.
Former India batsman and commentator S Badrinath will conduct the proceedings of the draft.
“The player draft is ideally the last piece of the puzzle that will give final shape to the participating teams for the new season,” said Tamil Nadu Cricket Association Joint Secretary R.I. Palani.
Fast bowler R Jesuraj and allrounder Malolan-Rangarajan will be among the prominent names who are part of the pool which also includes some exciting uncapped players like fast bowler.
Tuti Patriots and Chepauk Super Gillies dominated the first two seasons with the former winning the inaugural edition and the latter triumphing in the second season. Siechem Madurai Panthers broke that dominance by reigning supreme in the third season defeating Dindigul Dragons in the final last year.
“Every season has produced a new champion and level of competition in the league has only increased year on year. The 2019 season is going to be no different and we are expecting an exciting fare,” said Palani.
The fourth season of the TNPL begins from July 19 at the NPR College ground, Dindigul with last year’s finalists Dindigul Dragons taking on 2017 champions Chepauk Super Gillies. ICL-Sankar Nagar ground, Tirunelveli and MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai are the other venues of the season. The final will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium on August 18.
The final team list will be released at the end of the draft.
