Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra withdraws from Top Athletics Lucerne: Tokyo Olympic-bound javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra pulled out of the Top Athletics event in Lucerne, Switzerland due to fatigue. This would have been his third event of the week after Karistad Open in Sweden and Kuortane Games in Finland.

According to Sportstar report, Neeraj pulled out to avoid injury and take rest ahead of the Tokyo Olympics. The 24-year-old had reached Portugal in the first week of June and has been competing since then.

Tokyo Olympics: He began his international season by winning the City of Lisbon athletics meet. He recorded the best throw of 82.18m. The current Commonwealth and Asian Games gold medalist won bronze at the Kuortane Games in Finland.

The Top Athletics Lucerne event was expected to be a pre-show between Tokyo Olympic gold medal favourite Johannes Vetter and Neeraj Chopra. However, the focus would now shift to Diamond League in Gateshead.

The event is scheduled on July 13. Vetter has already confirmed that he will participate at the Diamond League event in Gateshead.
