Tokyo Olympics: Kiren Rijiju declares, 'Talking to Health Minister for vaccinations for Indian athletes'

Tokyo Olympics: Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju will be shortly talking to Health Minister Harsh Vardhan for prioritising COVID-19 vaccination for Olympic bound Indian athletes.

“Olympics is our target and Indian athletes who are going there are our priority. We are in constant touch with the Health Ministry to see how Tokyo bound Indian athletes could be prioritised for vaccination,” Sports Minister Kiren Rijjju told Insidesport.co while felicitating Indian athletes at a ceremony in Delhi on Saturday.

“I am optimistic that we will do very well in the Tokyo Olympics. I won’t comment on how many medals we will get. That is the job of the technical committee. But I am sure India will exceed all expectation,” Rijjju said.

Sports Minister also informed that all the federations and the BCCI had approached the Ministry for vaccination of athletes and cricketers.

“Yes BCCI has approached us & the Health Ministry. But as of now, our priority is only the Tokyo Olympic bound athletes because they are the ones representing the country at the highest level,” Rijiju added.
