Tokyo Olympics live – SAURABH Chaudhary Finishes 7th: 10 M Men’s AIR PISTOL LIVE: Saurabh Chaudhary has crashed out from the Finals as he could only finish 7th in the 10 M Air Pistol Finals. The pressure of big stage got to the young Indian as Chaudhary could not keep his form that took him to his 1st Olympic finals.

Tokyo Olympics LIVE – SAURBH Chaudhary Finishes 7th: Youngster Saurabh Chaudhary failed to rise to the challenge in the finals of the men’s 10m air rifle event as he finished seventh at the Tokyo Olympics.
Saurabh shot a total of 137.4 in the finals and as a result, he finished at the seventh spot. Riding high from his qualification round, the youngster would have been hopeful of winning a medal, but the final turned out to be a rather disappointing outing.

- SILVER – Damir Mikec of Serbia
- BRONZE – Pang Wei of China
Earlier Saurabh had stormed into the medal round of the men’s 10m air rifle after finishing on top in the men’s 10m air rifle qualification, here at the Asaka Shooting Range on Saturday. On the other hand, Abhishek crashed out as he finished at the 17th spot with a score of 575.
Saurabh shot a series of 95 in the first series of men’s 10m pistol qualification. His first 10 shots were: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9 and after this, he was positioned at the 17th spot.
Saurabh’s second 10 shots added up to 98 and hence he bettered his spot to 9th. In the third series, Saurabh once again put on a cumulative score of 98, and his rank rose further to fifth.
In the fourth series, Saurabh shot a perfect 10 and his rank got better to second, and he was going all guns blazing. In the fifth and sixth, Saurabh shot 98 and 97 and he finished with a total score of 586.

In the qualification round, each competitor gets to shoot six series of 10 competition shots at a 10-ring target.
The perfect score in each series is 109 (10.9 x 10) while hitting the bull off all shots will fetch 654 (109 x 6) points.
The top eight shooters advance to the finals.

Apurvi Chandela will be representing India in the 10m air rifle event. By winning the gold medal at the 2019 ISSF World cup, she secured a quota to participate in the Tokyo Olympics. After competing at the 2016 Rio Olympics, this will be her second Olympic appearance.

Elavenil Valarivan will be representing India in two events, women’s 10m air rifle and 10m air rifle mixed team event. She is currently ranked number one in the Tokyo Olympics ranking and is ranked number 12 in the world according to 2021 rankings.
The 21-years-old is the only shooter in the Indian contingent who has got the Olympic slot without winning a quota. The young shooter was rewarded by the federation for her consistent performance.

The finals are a 24-shot affair with the eighth-place being decided after 12-shots and one shooter being eliminated after every two shots thereafter, till the winner is decided after the 23rdand 24thsingle shots. The field is without the Rio Olympics medallists and therefore will have a new Olympic Champion.
