In terms of net aggregate Puma has seen its annual sales figures last year going up by ₹ 199 crores, which also catapulted the brand into the market leaders position. However, American athleisure brand Sketchers has record the best growth rate @ 41.5%. The year has not been good for Reebok and its sister concern brand adidas. The former lost its position as the market leader and Puma its business.
Puma has become the No. 1 brand in terms of gross business, adidas loses the leadership position and settles at the next and Reebok loses its fourth position to Sketchers as well as a major chunk of its annual business.

The German brand and sister concern of adidas has lost its gross business by over six percent to see its annual sales fall from ₹ 416 crores in 2017 to ₹ 391 crores in the last fiscal.
With a 41.5% growth rate, the American athleisure brand Sketchers has not just moved up one place to the No. 4 position but has also emerged as a threat to the market leaders.
The American sports brand has retained its third position from the 2017 Indian sportswear market leaders’ chart in spite of a mere 2.62% growth rate.
The market leader a year ago is relegated to the second position. The 12% growth rate is marginally better than the average projected growth for Indian sportswear market, but not good enough to match Puma’s long strides.
Here is a new market leader. Puma surges past leader German rivals adidas both in sales and annual growth rate. The brand will be more aggressive in the women’s segment after having announced an association with MC Mary Kom – one of India’s top female athletes, who has also been a member of parliament during her playing career.
With Puma, Skethers is the growth sotry of Indian sportswear market. The latter, a relative newcomer in the Indian market,has shown the potential to give the market leaders a run for their money.
