Toyota Yaris LaLiga: Over 50 countries tuning in to follow Girona FC

More than 50 countries have been tuning in live to follow the Girona FC action in the Toyota Yaris LaLiga from Kochi.

The LaLiga side is competing against ISL’s Kerala Blasters and A-League’s Melbourne City FC in the Toyota Yaris LaLiga being held from 24 to 28t July.

There has been a buzz around Kochi as Girona FC, the first ever LaLiga team to visit India, have been competing against leading sides from the Indian Super League and the A-League respectively. The Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament is currently being held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and being shown in over 50 countries across the globe.

With huge terrestrial and digital broadcast interest in India, the matches are also being shown live on beIN SPORTS in Spain, MENA and South East Asia. The fixtures can also be found live on LaLiga TV in Spain. The club that finished 10th in LaLiga last season, and in many ways have had a fairytale run since promotion two seasons ago is the inaugural LaLiga team to visit India. They have enjoyed a warm welcome all over the city and have also given back to the local community by holding a coaching clinic with local children.

LaLiga World has been organising and making various efforts to spread awareness of football and other sports via events. This event is expected to be one of the biggest based on the constant support and enthusiastic response from football fans.

The fixtures which is been played as part of the Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament, with Kerala Blasters who finished 6th in last season’s India Super League, and Melbourne City, who had a third-place finish in the A-League.

Meanwhile, Girona FC has also conducted a closed-door football coaching session with the students of Don Bosco School and Junior Academy players of Kerala Blasters School at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium. Girona FC players’ Gorka Iraizoz Moreno, Cristian Portugues, David Timor, Kevin Soni, Yhoan Andzouana conducted the coaching session with the aim to establish football as a growing sport within India, while also giving students a unique opportunity to play and learn a major sport. 

It was an exceptional LaLiga 2017/18 campaign for Girona FC and included a historic victory over Real Madrid CF. The Girona FC squad was announced ahead of the Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament and it includes marquee names on the list. Football is on the rise in India and LaLiga World has been making rigorous efforts to spread the awareness of various sports along with football.
