Trump to award Presidential Medal of Freedom to Tiger Woods

President Donald Trump will present the US Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country’s highest civilian honour, to world-renowned golfer Tiger Woods next week, the White House announced on Thursday.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump will bestow the award in a ceremony to be held in the Rose Garden on May 6.

The 43-year-old American professional golfer won the Masters last month, his first major title since the 2008 US Open.

Trump tweeted after the tournament that he had congratulated Woods and informed him that he would be receiving the medal because of his “incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE.
