Cricket Ireland is flying high on reforms in International Cricket Council. As the Ireland pushes for a full member and Test team status in the ICC, the national federation has inked a one-year title sponsorship deal with Turkish Airlines. However, the sponsor will have an option to extend the deal up to 2020.
“Cricket Ireland are delighted to welcome Turkish Airlines into the Irish Cricket family,” said CI Chief Executive Warren Deutrom, announcing the new sponsorship. “With the opportunities afforded by the growth of cricket in Ireland and by what we hope are positive decisions around our status in the world game, there couldn’t be a better time for a brand the scale of Turkish Airlines to become part of our journey.”
Turkish Airlines Dublin general manager Hasan Mutlu added: “Cricket is a great connector among its fans around world, uniting them around a mutual passion for the game.”
Ireland travel to England to play two one-day internationals next week, at the Bristol County Ground on Friday 5th May and at Lord’s on Sunday 7th May. As part of the deal, the Irish team will support Turkish Airlines branding on its T-shirts.
