UFC 265: Conor McGregor praises his former foe, Jose Aldo, for a big win: Conor McGregor has apparently suffered a downfall in his glittery UFC career. However, his former rival Jose Aldo has seen an absolutely opposite scenario, especially after winning over Pedro Munhoz at UFC 265. That said, McGregor couldn’t help but praise the Brazilian legend.

Looking back to 2013, Conor McGregor wasn’t really respectful towards Jose Aldo. Instead, the Irishman did every possible thing to get under his opponent’s skin, which ultimately led him to gain the featherweight title from Jose Aldo in a 13-second KO win at UFC 194.

Almost eight years down the line, McGregor has lost two fights back-to-back, whereas Jose Aldo is on a two-fight win streak and looks viable to opt for a bantamweight title shot soon. So, Conor McGregor tagged Jose Aldo as a “legend” of the sport, which makes absolute sense.

Following McGregor vs Aldo at UFC 194, several people had demanded a rematch. Furthermore, Conor McGregor had also verbally agreed to that offer. But he explored through the 170 lbs and 155 lbs division, which wasn’t really fruitful.

Following an undefeated run at 145 lbs, McGregor won two fights at 170 lbs and lost one. However, his 155 lbs journey saw him win only once in response to three losses. On contrasting the ride with Aldo’s career, the Brazilian clearly looks to have an advantage over ‘Notorious’. Meanwhile, the recent win at UFC 265 could have been the best of Jose Aldo in recent memory.

UFC 265: Why exactly did Conor McGregor label Jose Aldo a ‘legend’?

Before stepping up for UFC 265, Aldo had already earned himself a top-tier status. He is also the future Hall-of-Famer of UFC. But Aldo’s hunger to improvise hasn’t decreased yet. Still new to the bantamweight division, Jose Aldo went against a tough opponent in Pedro Munhoz, who possesses all the skills to become a future champion.

The three-round battle went to the distance, where Aldo thoroughly outclassed his rival and earned a comfortable win on the scorecard. So Conor McGregor rightly hailed Aldo and sent love from his side.
