UFC 267: Dana White announces Blachowicz vs Teixeira as main event with UFC set for Fight Island return- The UFC is all set to return to Abu Dhabi after president Dana White announced the return of MMA to Fight Island in October. The venue has seen over a dozen iconic fights but wasn’t revisited after Dustin Poirier’s epic knockout victory over Conor McGregor in January. The UFC 267 will be headlined by the Blachowicz vs Teixeira main event, while the bantamweight championship rematch between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan is also on the card.
As reported by The Sun, Dana White has revealed that the UFC 267 will return to Abu Dhabi on October 30. Fight Island has become a preferred venue for the MMA organisation ever since the coronavirus pandemic altered the course of events across the globe. Since June 2020, a total of 12 events have been held in the UAE and White said that he “cannot wait” for UFC to return to Fight Island in October.

UFC and UAE’s Department of Culture and Tourism agreed on a five-year deal, meaning White and his fighters will have frequent trips to the gulf nation for the next few years. As quoted by The Sun, the UFC president said, “We are going back to Abu Dhabi in October. Abu Dhabi is incredible – I love that place and the people. I have been talking about all of the things we are working on. I plan on getting all the deals buttoned up this summer. I can’t wait to go back and share everything we are working on together.”
Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, the DCT Abu Dhabi Executive Director of Tourism and Marketing claimed that the agreement was a “special milestone” for the country and said that the ultimate goal was to bring back fans. Shaiba said, “This is indeed a truly special milestone for Abu Dhabi and yet another indication of the strength of our partnership with UFC, as well as Abu Dhabi’s readiness to host momentous sporting events. Following the success of the previous Fight Island editions, the ultimate goal was always to bring back fans. And with hard work, collaboration and coordination across Abu Dhabi government entities, public and private sectors and our UFC partners, we will be able to achieve this once again, allowing fans to experience the thrill of live events once again in a safe and secure environment, which remains our utmost priority.”
Light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz will be up against Glover Teixeira as he aims to defend his title at the UFC 267. The Blachowicz vs Teixeira fight will mark the second time the former will aim to defend his title, having clinched a statement win over middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Teixeira lost in his last bout via a third-round submission against Thiago Santos and will have to do a lot more to register a famous win.
