The Pakistan Cricket Board has suspended Umar Akmal with immediate effect under the PCB Anti-Corruption Code. He has been barred from all cricketing activities pending an inspection by the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit.
The suspension forces Akmal out of the Pakistan Super League, where he were to represent Quetta Gladiators.
The PCB had declined to reveal any other details as an inquiry is pending against the veteran cricketer.
Meanwhile, Quetta Gladiators have been allowed to apply for Umar Akmal’s replacement.
The suspension has come on the Quetta Gladiators were set to launch their PSLK title defence against two-time former winners Islamabad United.
