US Open 2021 Day 2 LIVE: World No.1 Novak Djokovic, Ash Barty, Alexander Zverev to start US Open campaign today- Follow LIVE updates

Novak Djokovic vs Holger Rune

World No.1 Novak Djokovic is all set to begin his historic journey in the US Open 2021. He will face off Holger Rune of Denmark in his opening round. The Spaniard will be looking to start off his campaign with an easy straight sets win. He is chasing multiple records in the ongoing US Open. The 34-year-old can pip Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal by winning the 21st Grand Slam. He could also become the first player to win a calendar grand slam in the 21st century by clinching the US Open 2021 title.

On the other hand, Holger Rune is heading into the match with straight wins in Qualifers of the US Open. The 24-seed could win a set against the tennis superstar owing to Djokovic’s slow start at Grand Slams. In fact, it has become a pattern for the World No.1 to start off slow before launching himself in the seventh gear.

Ash Barty vs Vera Zvonareva

World No.1 Ash Barty is all set to begin her US Open 2021 campaign on Tuesday. She will face off Vera Zvonareva of Russia in the opening round. The World No.1 is coming on the back of a sensational form, pulling off the Cincinnati Masters title. She has won 9 out of her last 10 matches including victories over former top seeds Barbora Krejcikova and Victoria Azarenka. Barty had won the Wimbledon title – last Grand Slam and looking set for her maiden US Open title.

On the other hand, Zvonareva is heading into the year’s fourth Grand Slam with a dip in form. She has lost 3 out of her last 5 WTA matches. Facing Barty in the opening round is unfair to her. However, she has a decent record on hardcourt events with 11 wins in 18 matches. Can she overcome her poor form in US Open 2021? It will be a daunting task for Zvonareva to win a single set against Barty.
