Ravinder who hails from Sonepat will be up against Ulukbek ZHOLDOSHBEKOV of Kyrigystan  in the finals. Ulukbek got better of a wrestler from Japan in the semi-finals. The 23-year-old Kyrigistan wrestler is the current Asian U23 champion in the category. In the last World U23 Championships in 2018 he had finished in the 5th place. Ulukbek’s most creditable performance was seen in the Senior Asian Championships in 2018 where he won bronze medal.

In contrast Ravinder is little short on credentials at the international stage but great with his form and strength and no one knows it better than his European champion semi-finals opponent from Armenia. Arsen HARUTYUNYAN started as favorite in the semi-final bout against Ravinder and as per his billing took 3-0 lead by end of the round 1. In the round 2 Ravinder who works with Indian Air Force showed great fighting spirit to score the succor move to which the Arsen did not had any answer. Ravinder finally won the bout by fall and became the first wrestler from India in this edition of the U23 World championship to enter the finals.

Earlier, Ravinder had scored victories over experienced campaigners from Russia and host Hungary. In the Last 16 bout, Ravinder defeated Marcell BUDAI KOVACS of Hungary by 12-1 scoreline. In the quarterfinal Indian got the better of Dinislam TAKHTAROV of Russia.
