India’s dream to win one more medal on the day 4 was shattered as Jyoti lost the battle of bronze to Nadezhda SOKOLOVA of Russia. at the ongoing U23 world wrestling championships in Budapest. Jyoti came into the bout with very high hopes but all of those were short-lived as Sokolova mauled Jyoti 10-0 to win the 50kg freestyle bronze for her country.
Sokolova the 2018 U23 world championship silver medal winner is considered as one of the most talented and experienced wrestler on the UWW circuit – and young Jyoti could not match the strength and technical acumen of the Russian. So dominating was the Russian that she wrapped up the bout even before the Round 1 could end with technical superiority.
Jyoti lost out yesterday in the semi-finals to multiple world age group medallist wrestler Kika Kagata from Japan.
India has to now wait till tomorrow for their second medal of the championships. India won a silver medal courtesy Ravinder in men’s freestyle 61kg category and now is assured another one tomorrow as Pooja Gehlot…Click here to Continue reading
