Indian teams to travel separately

The Indian men’s teams for Greco Roman, free style and the women’s team will travel separately for the United World Wrestling 2019, slated from September 14-22,2019 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

The ten-member women’s team along with the support staff will leave for Kazakhstan on Thursday, August 29. The men’s Greco Roman team leaves the next day with the freestyle group, spearhead by Bajrang Punia will fly out on Saturday, September 31.

The women’s team consists of Seema (50 kg), Vinesh Phogat (53 kg), Lalita (55 kg), Sarita (57 kg), Pooja Dhanda (59 kg), Sakshi Malik (62 kg), Navjot Kaur (65 kg), Divya Kakran (68 kg), Komal Bhagwan Gold (72 kg) and Kiran (76 kg).

The women’s competition will start from Tuesday, September 17 with the 50 kg, 53 kg, 55kg, and 72kg events scheduled for the opening day. Wednesday will have action in the 50 kg, 53 kg, 55 kg, 57 kg, 69 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg and 76 kg weight categories. The wrestlers in the 57 kg, 62kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 68 kg and 76 kg will have their next round bouts on Thursday. The 62kg and 68kg deciders will take place on Friday, the last day of the women’s competition.

In addition to Bajrang Punia (65 kg), Ravi Kumar (57 kg), Rahul Aware (61 kg), Karan (70 kg), Sushil Kumar (74 kg), Veer Dev Gulia / Jitender in the 79 kg category, Deepak Punia (86 kg), Parveen (92 kg), Mausam Khatri (97 kg) and Sumit (125 kg) will represent the country in the men’s freestyle competition.

The freestyle competition is slated from Thursday to Sunday.

The Greco Roman team includes Manjeet (55 kg), Manish (60 kg), Sagar (63 kg), Manish (67 kg), Yogesh (72 kg), Gurpreet Singh (77 kg), Harpreet Singh (82 kg), Sunil Kumar (87 kg), Ravi (97 kg) and Naveen (130 kg).

The Greco Roman bouts will take place between Saturday, September 14, and Tuesday, September 17.
