Vijay Hazare: IPL 2021 snubbed him but Sreesanth once again shines with 4 wickets against Bihar: Sreesanth made a resounding comeback to domestic cricket after serving his ban. Although he went unsold in the IPL Auctions 2021, he is constantly questioning the franchises with his lethal bowling about his omission from the cash-rich league.
In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, Sreesanth made a noticeable performance by scalping 4 crucial wickets and stifling the Bihar batsmen, choking them from scoring runs. Riding on his performance, Kerala was able to halt the Bihar batsmen below 150. He claimed 4 scalps in his spell of 9 overs, conceding only 30 runs.
Sreesanth, who made his comeback after serving a ban of 7 years in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, was unable to fetch a buyer for himself in the IPL Auctions of 2021. Although he confirmed that few franchises had contacted him about his availability and fitness before the auctions, he went unsold at the base price of Rs.75 lakhs.
He last played IPL back in the year of 2013 for the then Kings XI Punjab, now known as Punjab Kings. In his short stint of 44 matches in IPL, he has 40 wickets to his name with the economy a bit on the higher side, 8.14. Sreesanth was a part of the winning team, Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural season of 2008. Also, he was a part of India’s T20 World Cup-winning team of 2007 and also a member of the 2011 Triumphant World Cup Team India.
Getting snubbed from IPL 2021 season hasn’t perturbed Sreesanth and he is toiling hard in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Slim chances but with continued good performances, he might get a late ticket to the show of IPL.
In the 5 matches Sreesanth has featured so far for Kerala in Vijay Hazare Trophy, 2021, he has 13 wickets to his name which includes one five-wicket haul against the star-studded batting line-up of Uttar Pradesh.
