Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021: DC’s Prithvi Shaw is back, scores career-best 227 against Pondicherry- Delhi Capitals’ opener Prithvi Shaw has found his lost form after injury, slamming a double century off just 142 for Mumbai against Pondicherry in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy in Jaipur.
Suryakumar Yadav, who recently earned his maiden India call-up for the limited-overs series against England, slammed a fine century, scoring 133 off just 58 balls. The duo helped Mumbai post 457/4 in 50 overs.
Since his suspension and injury, Shaw’s comeback has been slow. While he returned to the India Test side, he scored 0 and 4 in two innings against Australia in Adelaide. Hence, he was overlooked for the last two Test matches against England in the home series.
But back to the domestic set-up to reignite the form, Shaw has begun to get his rhythm back. After scoring an unbeaten century (105) against Delhi in Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy opener, Shaw commanded the Pondicherry bowlers on Thursday, scoring an unbeaten 227 off just 152.
The day belonged to the youngster from Mumbai. After given the captaincy in place of absent Shreyas Iyer, Shaw got off to an explosive start. In his highest score in domestic cricket, the India opener smashed 31 fours and 5 sixes.
