Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 – Karnataka beat Kerala by 80 Runs: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s opener Devdutt Padikkal, and Ravikumar Samarth starred in Karnataka’s dominant win against Kerela in the second quarterfinal of Vijay Hazare Trophy on Monday.

Kerala had won the toss and elected to field first. Karnataka’s openers Padikkal and Samarth gave their side a strong start. The former brought up his century in 118 balls at a strike rate of 84.87. However, Basil ended the dangerous partnership by dismissing Padikkal for 101.

Manish Pandey then posted some crucial runs with Samarth. Karnataka posted a commanding total of 338.

In reply, Kerala lost their top order cheaply. Vathsal then took charge with Sachin Baby to stabilise the faltering innings. But his impressive 92 runs knock came to an end after Prasidh caught him on Ronit More’s delivery.

RCB’s new signing Mohammed Azharudeen also showed some promise coming down at number six. He scored a blistering 52 in 34 balls.

However, the youngster’s efforts weren’t enough to save Kerala from getting knocked out from the domestic tournament.
