“I’m happy to be here. I think it’s going to be a great show. I’m focused on my boxing career and my craft. I want to fight two more times this year, keep busy and work towards a world title opportunity. There are a lot of Indian people in this area, and I know they will come out to support me. It’s been a long time out of the ring for me, and I am ready,” said the Beijing Olympic Games medallist boxer.
“I am fully geared up for this fight and my strategies against Mike Snider are already in place as discussed with my team including trainer Lee Beard. I am ready to knock down Snider in the early rounds” added Vijender Singh.
On the other hand Vijender’s opponent Mike Snider, who holds a 13-5-3 record, confident of defeating Indian boxer. “My trainers looked at Vijender and watched several of his fights. They told me what he does well and what we can do to exploit his weaknesses. In between rounds, I’ll listen to them and see how things are playing out. The game plan is going to come from my trainers and what they’ve seen.
“There’s always pressure on me because I never go off anyone else. I want to win the fights that people say I can’t.I love winning fights people say I can’t win. I always love proving people wrong. I’ve been doing that my whole. I had a rough life growing up. When people say I can’t do something, it’s a smack in the face. I believe I can do anything. I’m not coming to lay down for anyone. I never have. I never will. Expect a guy who’s coming in there to win. I’m not coming just to show up. I’m coming to win.”
The fight between Vijender Singh and Mike Snider will be an eight-rounder contest. Fight will be telecasted live in India on 14th July at 4:30 am onwards on Sony Ten 1.
