Virat Kohli completes 10 years in Test Cricket: 10 things, facts you should know about India skipper- As India skipper Virat Kohli is battling out for India in the World Test Championship (WTC Final) for India vs New Zealand, he will be completing his 10 years in test cricket today. Kohli who made his debut against the West Indies in June 20, 2011 will be 10 year old in Test Cricket and what better stage to complete the milestone than the WTC Final.

Virat Kohli completes 10 years in Test Cricket: Since his Test debut against West Indies on June 20, 2011, Kohli has grown both as a player and captain. He is the sixth-highest run-scorer for India, a leader who has left the likes of stalwarts like MS Dhoni and Sourav Ganguly with his brilliance.

Currently, he is giving his biggest Test against New Zealand in the longest format. He is chasing his first ICC trophy in the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) Final.

Virat Kohli is the only player to feature in finals of all major ICC events- ICC T20 World Cup, ICC World Test Championship Final, ICC World Cup Final, ICC Champions Trophy Final.

1st Fifty in Test (52 vs WI, 2011)- Virat Kohli smashed his first fifty in Test against West Indies in his fourth Test while playing against West Indies. The 22-year-old walked out to bat at No.6 as the team had big names- Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman- for him to fit at No.4. He scored back-to-back fifties in the contest which ended in a draw.

1st Test century (116 vs Aus, 2012)- Virat Kohli did not had to wait too long to score his first Test century. He smashed his maiden hundred against Australia in his 8th test which came in Australia. Unfortunately, India lost the Test but Kohli’s innings stood out in the contest.

Virat Kohli is the sixth highest run-scorer in Tests for India with over 7,500 runs. Kohli also has the most runs as India captain. He has scored 5392 runs in 60 Test for India at an average of 58.61 which included 20 tons.

He is third on the list of most century scorers in Test cricket among Indians. Kohli has hit 27 tons in 92 matches. Only Sunil Gavaskar (34), Rahul Dravid (36), and Sachin Tendulkar (51) are ahead of him.

Virat Kohli has the most double tons among India batsmen. He has smashed as many as 7 double centuries in Test cricket.

Virat Kohli holds the record scoring most Test runs in a calendar year twice. He has scored 1322 runs in 2018 and 1215 runs in 2016.

Virat Kohli is the most successful India captain in Test cricket. He has won 34 out of 60 matches at a win percentage of 59.01. He is only behind Ricky Ponting (62.33) in terms of winning percentage. The latter has won 48 Tests in 77 matches.

Kohli, who is often unlucky with the coin toss, has won all the tosses in four series- twice against South Africa (2016/17 and 2019/20), one each against Sri Lanka (2017), and New Zealand (2016/17).
