Royal Challengers Bangalore fans can now have reasons to cheer. The news coming is that RCB skipper Virat Kohli could be back for the team as early as Friday (April 14) when they take on Mumbai Indians in their fourth match of the IPL this year.
RCB have lost two of their three games so far this season and are languishing sixth on the points table after finishing runners-up in 2016.
On Monday, the Royal Challengers welcomed back AB de Villiers, who smashed an unbeaten 89 studded with nine sixes. However, AB’s heroics were still not enough to get them across the line against Kings XI Punjab in Indore.
Kohli had injured his shoulder in the Ranchi Test against Australia and had to sit out the next Test, the series decider in Dharamsala. He also missed RCB’s first three matches against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils and KXIP.
Kohli posted a video on Instagram which shows him training hard. The caption left little to the imagination: “Can’t wait to get back onto the field. Almost there now. 14th April.”
The 28-year-old shattered several records in IPL 2016, amassing 973 runs and cracking four hundreds, the most ever in a single season.
De Villiers was also in sublime form last season, smashing 687 runs including one hundred.
