IPL title sponsor Vivo has emerged as the buzziest brand this IPL tournament till now. #VivoIPL was instrumental in helping the brand top the buzziest advertisers list. The brand’s #PerfectFan contest where winners stood a chance to win match tickets every day, was the other campaign driving audience activity.

Vodafone is the most loved brand on social media with the highest likes and shares for the brand across the social media platforms. Star Sports ranked second in the advertisers’ leaderboard most likes and shares category. Hotstar’s #KoiYaarNahiFar campaign which encouraged people to connect with family & friends over cricket was ranked third in the most likes and shares list.

Wavemaker’s IPL 2019 Report has analysed the social buzz created by IPL in the past three weeks from 23 March 2019 to 16 April 2019. IPL 2019 has already generated enough buzz in three weeks than the entire buzz created during IPL 2017. The company is also estimating that the total buzz would reach 20 million by the end of the tournament.

The company analysed through the social mentions on Twitter (Tweet/RT/Reply), Facebook (Post/ Comments/ Shares), Instagram, YouTube, Blogs, Forums, Google+, Online news, Mainstream news, and Consumer forums.

Official broadcaster, Star Sports ranked third in the overall social media buzz. Star Sports’ two campaigns in association with IPL 2019 were #GameBanayegaName and #SelectDugOut. According to the Wavemaker’s IPL 2019 report, the high frequency of brand’s content such as regular match updates on social media pushed the buzz.

Vodafone was the 2nd buzziest brand around IPL 2019. FANtastic Breaks contest helped the brand garner over 300k comments on Facebook. The report also revealed that Vodafone’s Zoozoos continued to remain the most loved brand on social media, with highest likes and shares for the brand across social media platforms.

According to the report, the buzz increased whenever CSK or RCB played. CSK and RCB were ahead of the rest of the competitors in terms of buzz mostly due to the popularity of their players. 71% of conversations around IPL 2019 originated from India and 29 was from outside India. Most talked team in social media CSK, RCB, MI, and KKR.

With 80% share of the conversation, men continued to dominate IPL conversation compared to women. Majority of conversations around IPL 2019 originated from India.
