Cricket is back at the top among the sports genre programmes on Indian television. Kabaddi after ruling the top five table for six consecutive weeks, is pushed to the third position.
The one-off T-20 international between Sri Lanka and India on 6 September, Wednesday, figures among the top two sports programmes on Sony Six and Sony Ten 3 respectively. However, a similar viewership trend is not seen for the fifth and final one-day international played on September 3, Sunday. The week 36 Broadcast Research Council data, taking into account television viewership stats between September 2 and September 8, shows the ODI at No. 5 position with 38,86,000 impressions on Sony Six.
Vivo Pro Kabaddi League matches at the fourth and fifth position on STAR Sports First separate the one off T-20 and the fifth one-dayer in the sports genre top five programmes table.
STAR Sports First, the only private free to air sports channel, in spite of a decline in the kabaddi viewership is back at the top after being at the No. 2 position in the previous week. Sony Six, Sony Ten 3, Star Sports 3 Hindi and Sony Ten 1 in the same order are the other top five sports channels for the week.
This is the first time ever since the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League Season 5 has started on July 28, that a cricket show is figuring at the number one position in the BARC top five sports programmes.
