WI vs AUS ODI series: West Indies will hope to carry their dominating across formats when they begin their three-match ODI series against Australia on Wednesday. The hosts registered a fascinating 4-1 series win over the visitors in the T20I, but the action will now shift to the 50-over format, with eyes on some important points in the World Cup Super League. Australia meanwhile will look to bounce back from its humiliation and put on a respectable showing in the three 50-over games.

Here’s a look at five players who could potentially stand out in the three-match ODI series between West Indies and Australia.

WI vs AUS ODI: Mitchell Marsh

After a productive T20 series, Mitchell Marsh will hope to carry his form into the three-match ODI series starting on Wednesday. The all-rounder finished as the top run-getter of the series with 219 runs in five games, while also scalping eight wickets, the second most behind Hayden Walsh. With a host of senior stars missing, Marsh will have to assume greater responsibility in the middle order for the visitors and he should definitely be the one to watch out for in the series.

WI vs AUS ODI: Shai Hope

With an average of almost 53, Shai Hope is the fulcrum of the West Indies side in the 50-over format. The opener is the glue that binds the team together as he anchors the innings from an end, while the rest of the batting order goes about their business in typically brash style. Hope has been more than reliable for West Indies in his career so far, and the runs are likely to flow off his bat when the three-match ODI series begins.

WI vs AUS ODI: Evin Lewis

One of the players that will crossover from the T20I squad to the ODI team, Evin Lewis will look to make it count in the three games against the Aussies. The left-hander scored an entertaining 79 in the final T20I at Saint Lucia and will be hoping to continue from where he left off. Lewis had scored a 100 against the touring Sri Lankans in March this year, and will look to add to his tally in the coming three games.

WI vs AUS ODI: Ashton Turner

Ashton Turner’s career has hit a roadblock ever since he guided Australia to an unlikely win over India in Mohali. The Perth Scorchers star will hope to capitalise on the opportunities presented in the upcoming three games and make a case for himself, while continue to remain in the selectors’ thoughts with the T20 World Cup on the horizon. Turner has impressed in the six games he played against India, with a strike rate of 127.92.

WI vs AUS ODI: Jason Holder

Former captain Jason Holder returns to the ODI squad, after being overlooked for the T20I series against Australia. Dependable with both bat and ball, Holder will be a key part of the West Indies plans in the longer formats of the game, providing a great deal of balance and stability to the team. The all-rounder will be rejuvenated after being rested and will hope to showcase his all-around abilities especially with Kieron Pollard’s availability in doubt.
