WI vs PAK 3rd T20I LIVE: West Indies win toss, opt to bat first against Pakistan – Follow LIVE updates

West Indies captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and opted to bat first against Pakistan here at the Providence Stadium, Guyana on Sunday in the third match of the four-match T20I series. Earlier the toss was delayed due to rain. The entire square was under covers.

Teams:

Pakistan (Playing XI): Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Rizwan(w), Babar Azam(c), Mohammad Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman, Sohaib Maqsood, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Haris Rauf, Usman Qadir

West Indies (Playing XI): Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran(w), Kieron Pollard(c), Andre Russell, Jason Holder, Dwayne Bravo, Romario Shepherd, Hayden Walsh, Akeal Hosein

Babar Azam: He (Hafeez) is very important for us, especially against left-handers he is very good. We struggled in the middle-order in the last few games but we are trying different combinations and I’m confident we will go well. We have one change today. Shaheen Afridi is out and Haris Rauf comes in for him.

Kieron Pollard: We gonna bat first. Yesterday there was moisture earlier and the second half it was keeping a bit low. Very pleasing about the bowling and for us we strive for consistency in everything we do. Just one change. A forced changed. Lewis misses out and Russell comes back in. That has been the niche so far. The guys have come in and out and had some injuries and had to make some forced changes but having said that, we are willing to fight and we are willing to go the hard distance and hopefully, we can do well today.

WI vs PAK 3rd T20I LIVE: After losing the nail-biter against Babar Azam-led Pakistan, defending champions West Indies will be looking to fight back in the upcoming T20 contest on Sunday. It is notable that West Indies has not defeated Pakistan in a T20 match in the last 5 matches. And, the head-to-head stats are 12-3 in favour of Pakistan. West Indies are yet to defeat Pakistan in a bilateral series and their dreams of winning the series can come alive only if they win all the two upcoming T20Is.

WI vs PAK 3rd T20I LIVE: Will Kieron Pollard’s West Indies fightback or Babar Azam’s Pakistan dominate?

Pakistan will be looking to strengthen their middle-order woes which had also disappointed during the England series while West Indies bowlers will look to improve their bowling during the powerplay overs. Pollard’s own form has come under scanner over the last few international matches while Chris Gayle has disappointed after playing out of his batting position. The hosts will be looking to solve their shortcomings in the last few matches ahead of the T20 World Cup before defending their T20WC title later this year.

Weather report and Conditions

There are chances of a late shower and the sky will be covered by clouds. As a result, rain could play a spoilsport in the T20 encounter. The conditions are likely to be the same as the first T20I owing to the same venue. The pitch assisted the batting team and pacers in the previous game.
