The remaining two quarter-finals berths will be decided today (Tuesday) as Sweden take on Switzerland at the St Petersburg Arena from7:30 pm India time and Colombia run into England at the Spartak Moscow stadium in the last round-of-16 games from 11.30 pm.
Both the matches will be broadcast live for Indian football fans on the Sony Sports Clusters channels, while Sony’s OTT platform SonyLIV will live stream the games for its subscribers.
Sweden, ever since winning the bronze in 1994, has not been able to go past the round of 16. For Switzerland, the wait for a quarter-finals appearance has been even longer. It was in 1954 when Switzerland, also the World Cup hosts then have reached the quarter-finals. In their quest for a quarter-finals berth, both the team will be affected hard by suspensions.
Vladimir Petkovic’s side will be missing key defenders Fabian Schaer and captain Stephan Lichtsteiner. while Janne Andersson’s Sweden will be without Sebastian Larsson.
The second game slated for the day, Colombia will be eyeing their first victory over England. The match at the Spartak Moscow Stadium will also decide the last-quarterfinalists for the World Cup 2018.
