The France versus Belgium semi-finals will be played at the St Petersburg stadium today (Tuesday) from 11.30 pm India time.

Both the teams combined, have a total of 18 players in their team who play in the English premier league. The list includes prominent stars from both the teams.

BELGIUM’S PREMIER LEAGUE STRENGTH

Belgium have 13 of the 18 Premier League players among the first semi-final line ups in their 23-man squad. The list includes the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard. The top EPL clubs have certainly marked their presence, as there are three players each from Chelsea (Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard and Mitchy Batshuayi) and Tottenham Hotspur (Jan Vertongehn, Toby Alderweireld and Moussa Dembele), while two players each come from Manchester United (Romelu Lukaku, Marouane Fellaini) and Manchester City (Kevin De Bruyne, Vincent Kompany).

Liverpool (Steven Mingolet), West Bromwich Albion (Nacer Chadli) and Crystal Palace (Christian Benteke) have a single representation in the Belgium squad.

Apart from England’s top division, there are two players each from La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy) and Belgium Pro League (Belgium).

The Bundesliga (Germany), Ligue 1 (France), Chinese Super League (China) and Scottish Premiership (Scotland) all have one player each in the Belgium squad.

FRANCE BOAST OF LIGUE 1 HOME TALENT  

Moving on to Didier Deschamps’s side, France in totality have five players who play in England’s top division. Paul Pogba (Manchester United), Olivier Giroud (Chelsea), N’Golo Kante (Chelsea), Benjamin Mendy (Manchester City) and captain Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur) will be in the French Colours at the St Petersburg Stadium this evening.

France national team has a strong Ligue 1 (French league) presence. Eleven players out of their 23-man squad play in the French top division League.  There are four Spanish La Liga representations. Of the remaining three, two play in Bundesliga (Germany) and one in Serie A (Italy).

Football world’s number one league, the Premier League has also been the number one in terms of its player representation in the FIFA World Cup 2018.
