ICC World Cup 2019 official sponsor GoDaddy is gunning to avail the opportunity for brand’s expansion to Tier II and Tier III cities in India. The multinational web hosting and publicly traded internet domain will be sponsoring an ICC World Cup for the first time. The company is aiming to avail the opportunity for business expansion in India.
Besides the rights for in-stadia promotions and brand activation during the ICC World Cup games, GoDaddy India has also planned to increase activity on social and digital platforms. The company will also be exploring a range of media and marketing channels to advertise its ICC World Cup campaign on mediums like TV, print, radio, social and other digital platforms.
“We plan to be increasingly active during the World Cup on various social and digital platforms, starting with a lucky draw Sweepstakes for our current customers and new customers. It will give them an opportunity to win tickets and travel to England and Wales for various World Cup matches,” GoDaddy India vice-president and managing director Nikhil Arora has told exchange4media.
Through the ICC World Cup campaign Sweepstakes, the company aims to engage cricket enthusiasts and consumers on the platform. In order to be eligible to enter Sweepstakes, participants can shop GoDaddy products and services or renew their subscription before May 15, 12 noon. Subscriptions renewed from April 18 will be considered for eligibility. The lucky nine participants, picked through a draw, will get an opportunity to win two platinum/ gold tickets to watch Virat Kohli-led Indians playing in the ICC World Cup in England and Wales.
Godaddy is also sponsoring the ‘Greatest XI’ on the ICC website and their app to give cricket enthusiasts an opportunity to create their own dream team of 11 cricketing masters from across the world, and share the line-up with their friends and family. The brand also plans to “continue leveraging our current brand ambassador Mahendra Singh Dhoni as a treasured ‘Bijness Bhai’ to further demonstrate the ease and affordability of GoDaddy’s online product and service offerings,” Arora has said.
Even as GoDaddy is associating with an ICC World Cup for the first time, the brands connect with cricket goes a long way. The brand was associated with India’s T20 home series against Sri Lanka two years ago and the 2016 India-England Test series.
“This year, through our association with the ICC Men’s Cricket World cup, we plan to further expand our reach to Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India, which form a major chunk of our new customer base in the country. As we get the right visibility from the world’s biggest sporting extravaganza, we aim to create more awareness as well as drive necessary conversations for digital adoption among small and medium businesses all around the globe,” Arora has been reported as saying.
