There was no stopping Japan as they defeated USA in a one sided finals to win the world cup once again. USA with 3 reigning world champions in the squad entered in the finals with high hopes but Japan proved too strong for American team to win their 6th consecutive world cup title by 7-3 scoreline.

In the gold medal battle Japan started with a bang with both Yui Sasaki and Haruna Okuna won their bouts to give the home team 2-0 lead. Both Sasaki and Okuno dominated the American opponents to win with identical score of 10-0.

But the joy of this fightback was short-lived as Japan won next 3 bouts to take a complete grip on the tie and the gold medal.
