India’s wrestling queen Vinesh Phogat has entered UWW Ranking Series final in Rome. The Indian champion was at her best as she defeated two time world medallist Qiyanu Pang of China 4-2 in the semi-final. Pang like Vinesh had won the bronze medal in the 2019 World Championships in Nur-Sultan.

Vinesh will now play for the gold medal @ 10.30 PM tonight against 2018 South American Games champion Luisa Elizabeth Valverde of Equador.
The bout will be streamed LIVE and Exclusive in India on www.wrestligntv.in.
On her way to the final, the 2018 Asian Games gold medallist Vinesh had yet again proved her mettle as she defeated the under-23 World Champion Lannuan Lu of China to make it to the last 4 of the Rome Ranking Series. The 2018 Asian Champion looked supremely fit and agile as she scored 2 four pointers to outfox her Chinese opponent. Vinesh won the bout 15-5.
Nirmala Devi to play for bronze
In the 50kg category for women, India’s Nirmala Devi making a comeback in the international arena after a long time gave a good account of herself as she made it to the semi-finals before losing out to former world number 1 Sarah Ann Hilderbrandt of USA. The 32 year old Indian lost 2-8 to multiple world medallist American wrestler.
Nirmala will now fight for the bronze medal tonite against the winner of the repechage rounds.

Satyawart Kadian loses in quarterfinals
The men’s freestyle competitions also begin today as India’s Satyawart Kadian won his opening 97kg bout but lost out in the quarterfinals to Mchedlidze of Ukraine. The Asian Championship bronze medal winner Kadian won his opening round against Mamed Ibragimov from Kazakhstan but could not sustain the momentum as he went down to Ukrainian wrestler 0-2.
In the 125kg Sumit Malik was far from impressive as he lost to 2014 Junior World Champion Amarveer Dhesi of Canada 0-5.
