WWE Rumor Roundup: Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.
5) The Backstage Reaction To Vince McMahon Not Meeting With Zelina Vega
There was a report going around that Vince McMahon refused to meet with Zelina Vega after she was fired by WWE. On Fightful Select (subscribe here), Sean Ross Sapp provided some of the backstage reactions from the WWE locker room on this issue.
Sapp says that nearly everyone he spoke to was not surprised by Zelina not receiving an exit interview from Vince. There were several stories about planned meetings with Vince being delayed for weeks.
It was also noted that Zelina’s firing did not instill confidence in the WWE locker room:
One wrestler noted that it didn’t instill a lot of confidence in them that Zelina had an actual concern over a hot button issue and wasn’t heard out, and was promptly fired.
We still think it was a mistake to fire Zelina. We were always a big fan of hers and we think that she will excel wherever she goes next.
4) Differences In The Writing Of RAW & Smackdown vs NXT
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is a difference in philosophy when it comes to the writing of the WWE main roster vs NXT.
NXT does not deal with late changes on the day of a show, which is much different than RAW and Smackdown. Here is what he wrote:
While Raw and Smackdown are famous for last-day rewrites and driving the writing team crazy, NXT is being written with the long-term booking in mind and there are almost never late changes the day of the show. And if there are, they are usually forced based on someone booked being pulled for COVID or other reasons.
This is how RAW and Smackdown should be done. Instead, we always hear about Vince McMahon changing things on the fly and rewriting shows on the day of.
3) Favorite For Who Will Be The WWE Champion At The End Of 2021
According to BetOnline, Drew McIntyre is the betting favorite to hold the WWE Championship at the end of 2021.
Here are the top 5 favorites:
— Drew McIntyre +200
— Brock Lesnar +300
— AJ Styles +400
— The Fiend +500
— Keith Lee +600
Seems like these are some good odds on Keith Lee. We would put a small wager down on him and hope for the best.
2) Roman Reigns’ Opponent At Wrestlemania 37
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Daniel Bryan and Goldberg are the two top candidates to face Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 37.
Here is what Meltzer wrote:
Right now it would look like Bryan and Goldberg would be the top contenders for the Reigns match at Mania.
Bryan gives you the better match and Goldberg gives him the more mainstream interest which is kind of sad when you bring in a guy whose prime year would be 23 years earlier instead of having a series of challenges ready that people should care about more because of being current.
We can’t lie, we do not want to see Goldberg back. We would rather WWE use him on the Saudi Arabia shows and not something like Wrestlemania. Daniel Bryan vs Roman would be the much better match and storyline.
1) Sonya Deville’s Return
Sonya Deville made her return on the latest episode of Smackdown. She has been off television for the past few months.
According to Sean Ross Sapp, a lot of people in WWE were not expecting to see Sonya back so soon. Here is what he Tweeted about her return:
There were a lot of people in WWE that didn’t expect Sonya Deville back for months to come, so this is a big shot in the arm.

We were definitely happy to see Sonya back. We are excited to see what she can do in the Smackdown Women’s division over these next few months. She seems like she could be a solid challenger for Sasha Banks and the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
