WWE News: Gable Stevenson is now WWE bound

The 21-year old freestyle wrestler has signed a NIL deal with the company that gives him the privilege to attend the University of Minnesota for his senior year and also defend the Division I National Championship at Heavyweight. This is the first time when WWE has offered a deal of this kind to someone.

Ever since Gable Stevenson won the Gold medal at Tokyo Olympics and openly discussed his fandom for WWE, the rumor mill started to make all the right noises for the reigning NCAA wrestling champion signing with the company. Only last week, Gable posted on his official Twitter handle that he has “Just put the pen to paper..” and today, we know what paper he was talking about.

WWE released a statement saying, “WWE signs Olympic gold medalist and reigning NCAA wrestling champion Gable Steveson to an exclusive agreement. In the company’s first-ever NIL deal, Steveson will join the WWE roster while defending his NCAA title for the University of Minnesota.”

The Tokyo Olympic Gold medalist took to Twitter to express his excitement about joining the company. He wrote,

“Childhood dream accomplished.. I have officially signed with the @WWE!!! Thank you for the opportunity!! LETS WORK [flexed biceps emoji]”

Gable’s younger brother Bobby Steveson has also signed with the company. The younger one struck a deal with WWE last month as a part of the latest recruits as part of the most recent WWE performance Center Class. Now, both brothers will be working together under the same roof.

Stevenson is looking forward to finding his own feet in WWE. He doesn’t like being compared with former WWE Superstar and 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, who also took the same road as he did. Gable Stevenson mentioned in one of his Tweets today that,

“I’m not the next Kurt Angle.. I’m Gable Steveson.. Now, Please Enjoy The Show.. Thank you!”

WWE News: When will Gable Stevenson make his official in-ring debut?

There’s no news regarding Gable Stevenson’s in-ring debut date. He has appeared at ringside in the past for WWE NXT Takeover- Stand & Deliver, at Wrestlemania 37 weekend in April, and appeared in the ring alongside fellow Tokyo Olympic Gold medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock at Summerslam last month. We wish him all the very best for his new journey in WWE.
