This week’s WWE RAW is going to be a cracker one after a long time. We will have triple threat match to determine WWE Championship for TLC 2020. When AJ Styles, Keith Lee and Riddle face off in this match to claim No. 1 contender for the Drew McIntyre’s Championship.
Moreover, apart from this week’s WWE RAW, we will take a look at some of the top rumors from WWE that are heading us towards TLC 2020.
5) Braun Strowman’s Status
Over the past week, there have been a lot of rumors about Braun Strowman. There were some rumors that suggested Braun could be facing Drew McIntyre at TLC. There were also some rumors that suggested Braun might be injured.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Braun does have a knee injury and the feeling is that he won’t be at TLC. Here is what he said (h/t to WrestlingNews.co for the quote below):
“So Braun Strowman does have a knee injury because he’s being treated for it. I don’t know the severity of it. The impression I have is that he is not going to be at TLC, so I think the three-way is going to be for the spot, but I don’t know that 100%. I don’t think anyone knows anything anyway. From what someone told me, the writing team still thinks it’s Strowman, that could be wrong. As of Monday, I had heard that part”.
If he is not seriously injured, we could see WWE doing Braun Strowman vs Drew McIntyre at a later date. Maybe the Royal Rumble PPV or something. That seems like a match that WWE will definitely be building towards over these next several months.
4) WWE Rejected A Character Change For Liv Morgan
Liv Morgan was recently interviewed by Fox Sports. During this, Liv revealed that WWE rejected her pitch to turn her into a darker character.
Here is what she said:
I basically wanted to use the experiences I’ve gone through, the struggles of my childhood and kind of use the character that I was trying to create as an outlet to express the darker feelings that I was feeling. The more sad emotions that I was feeling.
So, we wanted to use this character as an outlet to express, maybe, suppressed emotions, you know? we just wanted to use this character as an outlet to show an opposite spectrum of Liv, you know?
But, we are very happy and bubbly and we just wanted the pitch for it to come on the opposite spectrum of that.
That seems like something that WWE can explore in the future. It would be cool to see her potentially join forces with The Fiend and Alexa Bliss down the road.
3) Lars Sullivan’s Current Status
According to a rumor from Ringside News, Lars Sullivan has fallen out of favor with Vince McMahon.
Here is what the site wrote about Lars:
One tenured member of the creative team noted that Sullivan’s situation is “just typical falling through the cracks.” This is not a good sign for The Freak as Vince McMahon was behind him just a month ago. Now he’s not even asking for him.
We can’t say that we are the biggest fan of Lars. While saying that, we never root for anyone to fail, so it sucks to see it happen.
2) Chelsea Green To Change Her Name When She Returns?
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, there were plans for Chelsea Green to start referring to herself as “Victorious” on the WWE main roster. There were even plans for her to cut a promo after her debut match on Smackdown, where she would use the new name.
These plans were scrapped after Chelsea suffered an injury during her debut match:
Fightful has learned the creative plans didn’t stop with Vince McMahon’s meeting with Chelsea Green. Up until at least the day of the show there were also creative plans for her to either have a name change or nickname. The proposal? “Victorious.” There were some concerns raised by some within the company that there could be trademark issues in making that happen. Both Green and “Victorious” appeared on the internal rundowns, though Green was scheduled for a post-match promo where she’d refer to herself by the new moniker. Obviously that didn’t happen due to injury.
We are not sure if that is going to work. We just feel bad for Chelsea as she was likely going to receive a push before her injury.
1) WWE Saving Match For The Royal Rumble
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer spoke about the upcoming plans for the Universal Championship.
According to Meltzer, WWE is leaning towards doing Roman Reigns vs Daniel Bryan at the Royal Rumble PPV. Here is what Meltzer wrote.
Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan may be the Universal title match. As of early in the week, the decision was leaning toward that match at the Royal Rumble and something else at TLC, but at this point there’s nothing else set up.
At TLC, we think that we will get a tag team match (in my TLC predictions, we have Daniel and Kevin Owens vs Roman and Jey Uso). If that happens, it would make sense to then do Roman vs Daniel at the Rumble in a singles match. That sounds like a good plan to me.
