WWE Rumors Round: Superstar name changes, Survivor Series last-minute update, Final call on Zelina Vega and many more – 19th November 2020

We are just three days away from WWE Survivor Series 2020 with that note here are some of the top backstage rumors that are building up towards Survivor series and after that. Lets us check out what this week’s rumors round take us into:
5). NXT Superstar Gets New Ring Name

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE has changed the name of Brandi Lauren from NXT. She will now be known as ‘Skyler Storey’. Here is what Johnson wrote:WWE NXT talent Brandi Pawelek aka Brandi Lauren, who was signed last month has been given the new ring name Skyler Storey, PWInsider.com has confirmed. Prior to her time under contract to NXT, Pawalek, 24, appeared for both EVOLVE and SHINE. We have finally solved the mystery of who WWE’s trademark filing was for. In a recent rumor roundup, we noted that WWE filed for ‘Skyler Storey’ but nobody knew who it was for.

4). The Final Straw That Led To Zelina Vega’s Firing From WWE

According to a report from Sports Illustrated, Zelina Vega was fired by WWE due to a breach of contract. Her starting an OnlyFans account was said to be the “last straw” for WWE, which led to her firing. Here is what the site wrote:

WWE, specifically McMahon, considered this a breach of contract and responded by terminating Trinidad’s contract. Sources close to WWE informed Sports Illustrated that, following discussions regarding Twitch, upper management felt Trinidad boxed them into a difficult situation by opening the OnlyFans account. As unpopular as this new policy is among talent, Trinidad’s dismissal serves as a sobering reminder that the new policy is going to be strictly enforced.

We are excited to see what Zelina does next. We could see her thriving somewhere like AEW, who could always use more female talent. That might be the best fit for her but we will have to wait and see.

3). Backstage Feeling In WWE About Unionization

According to WrestlingNews.co, there is a feeling backstage in WWE that a lot of the top talent won’t agree to a union. This is because the top half of the roster is making so much money. Here is what the site wrote:

WrestlingNews.co has heard that there are others in the company that support unionization but they saw what happened with Vega and realize that a message was sent when she was fired. There is some optimism among some because of SAG-AFTRA’s interest and Yang’s statements but the feeling among many in the company is that some of the top names who are making over $1 million per year are not going to speak up.

It will definitely be a tough fight. WWE pays their top talent so much that it doesn’t make sense for them to want to unionize as they would have to take a massive pay-cut. It will be interesting to see what happens.

2). WWE Changing Murphy’s Name?

Murphy recently changed his name on Twitter back to ‘Buddy Murphy’. Buddy was his name prior to WWE shortening it. Could this be a hint that WWE is giving Murphy his first name back? We are always on the side of Superstars getting their first names back, so we are all for this.
1) Why WWE Made Survivor Series Team Change

On the latest episode of RAW, WWE made some changes to the Women’s Survivor Series match. Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke were pulled from Team RAW and replaced by Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Mandy suffered a legitimate shoulder injury last week, which forced WWE to pull her from the match.

Meltzer says that Dana was pulled from the team because WWE didn’t want her in the match without her partner. As a result, they swapped both of them out for Peyton and Lacey, who has been teaming up in recent weeks. This sucks for both Mandy and Dana. I hope that Mandy is able to recover quickly and I hope that she isn’t out for the long-term.
