WWE set for India return after two years- InsideSport

WWE live action will be back in India after a gap of two years. RAW-branded two events have been scheduled for the month of December. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium will play host to the electrifying, high-intensity bouts on December 7 and 8.

The tour will also see WWE return to Abu Dhabi in the UAE on December 6 at the Zayed Sports City Tennis Stadium.

The WWE is going big on its Indian fan following. Multiple reports claim that Vince McMahon, the chairman of the Board, sees a huge potential market in the country.

However, it is not quite certain if WWE Champion Jinder Mahal and the Singh Brothers – Sameer and Sunil – will be making the event since they’re exclusively competing on Smackdown Live.

WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio, during his India visit last year had said: “India is one of the most important markets for the WWE and we want to make the already existing fanbase grow further. Several people from our company have come in the past and we have plans to come again. We just want to take wrestling to anywhere in the world where we feel it can be properly marketed and India is one of those countries.”

WWE has last toured India in January 2016 when live events were hosted in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

The WWE – then branded as RAW tour of India – had first toured the country in 2002.
