WWE Smackdown- Smackdown Results:  KING Nakamura is the new Intercontinental Champion. The King defeated Apollo Crews in a one-on-one match on tonight’s WWE Smackdown to get possession of the Intercontinental Championship for the second time in his career. Ever since moving to the main roster in 2017, Shinsuke has always been on the Blue brand.- This victory stamps his authority as one of the best in the current Blue brand roster. 

WWE Smackdown: Apollo Crews title reign finally comes to an end

Apollo Crews defeated Big E to become the Intercontinental Champion at Wrestlemania 37 back in April 2021. Apollo carried the title around his waist for almost 4 months. However, now, Shinsuke Nakamura is not only King Nakamura but also the new Intercontinental Champion.

Talking about the match, it was a great display of exciting move sets as both men pounded their opportunities. There was a time when Rick Boogs and Commander Azeez were sent backstage as both tried to intervene in the match, but the referee was quick to show them the path towards backstage.

Apollo took advantage of his agility for most of the match, but Shinsuke Nakamura’s unorthodox offense proved too good for him. At one point, Apollo went for a roll-up pin by taking assist of the middle rope, however, the referee caught him, and King Nakamura barely break the count. In the closing moments, Nakamura slammed Apollo on the mat with an “Attitude Adjustment” type suplex and finished the proceedings with a Kinshasa.

There is no word out on whether King Nakamura will defend his newly won title at the Summerslam PPV. However, with one more edition of Smackdown remaining before Summerslam, expect Apollo to get his rematch at the PPV event.
