WWE Summerslam: For the first time in history, WWE Summerslam will take place on a Saturday. The Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Paradise, Nevada, will be welcoming over 60,000 WWE fans on Saturday, August 21, with the fans asked to mask up owing to the COVID-19 scare. Ten matches have been added to the match card, with the Universal Championship match of Roman Reigns vs. John Cena headlining the PPV event.
The Universal Champion Roman Reigns is gearing up to put his title on the line against the 16-time World Champion John Cena. Before the colossal match, he recently sat down with Jimmy Traina of Sports Illustrated Media Podcast to promote the upcoming PPV event. During the interview, Roman was asked about his thoughts on WWE Summerslam happening on a Saturday. Here is what he said,
“As someone who has been in this process for a while, since we’ve come back to live crowds, we work on Saturdays pretty much every single week, and I’ve done it for years.”
Reigns further added,
“From a performance standpoint, it doesn’t change anything for me. I think it was just more of a strategical thing, the location in Vegas, and just how travel is, the percentages of how Vegas is populated with tourists. When it comes down to it, most people are trying to get out of their Sunday because they are going back to their workweek on Monday. It made great sense, obviously, to do it Saturday. The Vegas numbers, in general, are going to be higher.”
WWE Summerslam: Will Roman Reigns retain his title this Saturday?
Ever since turning heel last year, Roman reigns has found a way to retain the Universal Championship with his dirty tactics. He has used his cousins Jimmy & Jey as laggies to do all his dirty work. Will he continue to stand tall this Sunday as well? or will John Cena etch his name into history books by becoming a record 17-time World Champion?- Come Saturday, we will get the answers.
