Yashpal Sharma passes away: BCCI secretary Jay Shah offers thoughts on Yashpal Sharma’s demise, states, ‘Shocked and pained’: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah extended condolences on the uneventful passing away of India’s former cricketer Yashpal Sharma. Yashpal passed away on Tuesday morning after suffering a massive cardiac arrest.

Shah’s Tweet captioned, “Shocked and pained to learn about the sudden demise of Shri Yashpal Sharma. He will always be remembered for his knock of 89 runs against West Indies, which provided impetus to India’s world cup journey in 1983 and his overall contribution for #TeamIndia.”

Yashpal Sharma passes away:‘Crisis Man’ Former India batsman Yashpal Sharma, the 1983 World Cup winner passed away on Tuesday morning after suffering a massive cardiac attack. The middle-order batsman is known for his exploits in the 1983 World Cup. Called ‘Crisis Man’ for his steady batting and ability to rescue the innings by Sunil Gavaskar, he was India’s one of the stars in the 1st ever World Cup win. He was 66.

Yashpal Sharma passes away: He had a wonderful cricketing career spanning over a decade. During his career, he played 37 Tests, scoring 1,606 runs and 42 ODIs, scoring 883 runs including two centuries. he finished as the second-highest scorer of the world cup. India stars recently celebrated the 38-year anniversary of 1983 World Cup win in England.

“Yashpal Sharma passed away around 7:40 in the morning due to cardiac arrest. He was declared dead on arrival,” sources close to the family told ANI on Tuesday.
