Yuvraj Singh honoured with Most Inspiring Icon for Social Welfare

Yuvraj Singh has been honoured with a special award for his commitment to social welfare. The India international cricketer has been honoured by the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival for his exemplary contribution towards social welfare.

Yuvraj, the cancer crusader who spearheads his foundation YouWeCan, has been decorated with the Most Inspiring Icon of the Year for Social Welfare award.

Yuvraj has launched the YouWeCan foundation to fight Cancer by spreading awareness about the aggressive disease.

The braveheart cricketer himself has defeated the disease and returned to represent the country after an aggressive treatment in the US. In association with Microsoft Yuvraj had also launched a YouWeCan app in September 2012. The app enables the users to contribute to the foundation.

He has also been chosen as Laureus Sport for Good’s first “ambassador” from India. Laureus is a not-for-profit global organization which supports about 100 sports-based community programmes in 35 countries and wants to use the power of sport to end violence, discrimination and disadvantage, proving that sport can change the world.
