ZIM vs BAN 1st ODI LIVE: Shakib Al Hasan has 5 wickets, Bangladesh clinch 155-run win- After the one-off Test win, Tamim Iqbal’s Bangladesh clinched a comfortable 155-run win in their first ODI against Zimbabwe on Friday. Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan picked up five wickets as he ran through the Zimbabwe batting order to bowl then out for a paltry 121. With his five-wicket haul, Shakib became the leading wicket-taker for Bangladesh across all formats of the game.

Chasing a challenging 277 to win, Zimbabwe never got going as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Shakib Al Hasan’s trickery to fox Brendan Taylor meant that the result was a foregone conclusion despite wicket-keeper Regis Chakabva’s brilliance in the end. Chakabva scored a fighting half-century and was the lone bright spot in the hosts’ innings as they slipped to a humbling 155-run loss. Shakib was ably supported by the rest of the attack, as Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Mohammed Saifuddin all chipped in with the ball. Shakib meanwhile finished with figures of 5/30 in his 9.5 overs.

Earlier in the day Zimbabwe started brightly as they saw the back of captain Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan in the first 10 overs of the game. While others struggled to get going, Liton Das looked in imperious touch and went onto make a brilliant century, his fourth in ODIs. Das’ three figures saw Bangaldesh reach a safe target after the fall of Mohammad Mithun and Mahmudullah, before Afif Hossain and Mehidy Hasan played brilliant cameos in the end to take Bangaldesh to 276. Hossain was particularly impressive as he slammed a 35-ball 45 as he propelled the visitors to a fighting total, which in the end, proved to much for Zimbabwe to chase down.

The last time they faced Bangladesh was back in 2019-20 season when Bangladesh drubbed Zimbabwe 3-0 in the series. Can they take revenge against the visitors?
