After an 18 month spell with LA Galaxy, a place among the MLS Best XI in 2018 and 2019 and 53 goals across two seasons, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is back with his former club AC Milan.
Ibrahimovic is returning to Milan for a six-month period until the end of the current season with an option to extend the contract for the next one year. The striker in his two seasons with AC Milan – 2010/11 and 2011/12 – has recorded 85 appearances, 56 goals and significantly contributed to the teams’ Serie A title triumph and the Italian Super Cup.
Several clubs had been linked with the former Sweden international, including the likes of Fiorentina, Napoli, and Bologna, but he has decided on a return to San Siro. Ibrahimovic said in a statement: “I’m coming back to a club I hugely respect and to the city of Milan I love. I’ll fight together with my team-mates to change the course of this season. I will do everything to make it happen.”

Milan are currently 11th in Serie A, 14 points adrift of the top four. They were thrashed 5-0 by Atlanta in their last outing, with Stefano Pioli having a limited impact since replacing Marco Giampaolo in October. Ibrahimovic will be in Milan on January 2, 2020, to take his medical. He will then join his teammates for his first training session. As soon as the deal is official, a press conference will be set and aired live both on “Milan TV” and the Club’s Official App.
